Practice Plans – Our coaches come prepared with 3–4 drills to run for about 10–15 minutes each.
Maximize Ball Touches – We believe that an effective practice is one where athletes get as many touches on the ball as possible while spending minimal time waiting in line for each drill.
Limit Wait Times – Drills are designed so that no more than 4–5 players are waiting at a time. If lines get too long, we set up a duplicate of the same drill to keep everyone active.
Use Stations – Stations are a great way to keep players engaged. Each team has 2–4 coaches and each coach will run a different drill with a smaller group of athletes. This allows for more individual attention, quicker rotations, and stronger overall development.
Group by Skill Level – When using stations, coaches will sometimes split players into groups based on their current skill level. This ensures that newer athletes can focus on building fundamentals, while more experienced players are challenged with advanced variations of the same drill to push their development further.
Rotate Through Positions – We encourage athletes to try all positions over the course of the season, both in practices and scrimmages. This helps players understand the full game, discover where they feel most comfortable, and develop well-rounded skills.
Goal Keepers – For the 3/4 grade divisions, we introduce the goal keepers and select a player each week to try the position at practice and then at the following game.
Corners – For the 5/6 and 7/8 grade divisions, we include time during practices to work on corners.
Include Scrimmages – Every practice will end with a short scrimmage. Scrimmages give athletes the chance to reinforce skills and apply what they’ve learned in real game situations, experiment with different positions, and build confidence while having fun.
